This recruitment drive offers 6,557 Technician vacancies across various Railway zones in India for Technician Grade-I Signal and multiple Technician Grade-III posts.
The online application process will commence on 30 June 2026 and eligible candidates can submit their applications until 29 July 2026 (11:59 PM). Candidates possessing 10th Pass with ITI, Course Completed Act Apprenticeship, Diploma in Engineering, B.E./B.Tech, or relevant Science qualifications can apply according to the post-specific eligibility criteria.

Age Limit (As on 1 July 2026)

Educational Qualification
Candidates must possess the required qualification on or before the closing date of application. Those awaiting final results are not eligible.
Technician Grade-I Signal
Candidates should possess any one of the following from a recognized University/Institute:
- B.E. / B.Tech in relevant Engineering discipline
- Engineering Diploma
- B.Sc. in Engineering or equivalent qualification prescribed for the post
Technician Grade-III
Eligibility varies according to trade.
Candidates should possess one of the following:
- Class 10 (Matriculation/SSLC) with ITI from NCVT/SCVT in the relevant trade
OR
- Class 10 with Course Completed Act Apprenticeship (CCAA) in the relevant trade
Some Technician Grade-III categories also accept:
- Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM), wherever specifically prescribed.
The detailed notification contains post-wise trade qualifications for Electrical, Fitter, Welder, Carpenter, Refrigeration & Air Conditioning, Signal & Telecommunication, Painter, Millwright, Machinist and other Technician trades.
Salary Details:

Selection Process
The recruitment process consists of:
- Computer Based Test (CBT)
- Document Verification (DV)
- Medical Examination (ME)
Separate Computer Based Tests will be conducted for each pay level.
CBT Exam Pattern
The Computer Based Test will contain:
- 100 Objective Type Questions
- Duration: 90 Minutes
- Negative Marking: 1/3 mark deducted for every wrong answer
Minimum qualifying marks:
- UR – 40%
- EWS – 40%
- OBC – 30%
- SC – 30%
- ST – 25%
Normalization of marks will be applicable if the examination is conducted in multiple shifts.
Medical Standards
Candidates shortlisted for Document Verification must qualify the prescribed Railway Medical Examination.
Depending upon the post, medical categories include:
- B-1
- B-2
- C-1
Visual standards and physical fitness requirements will be checked according to the Indian Railway Medical Manual.
