
Indian Overseas Bank (IOB) has released the IOB Local Bank Officer Recruitment 2026-27 notification for 250 Local Bank Officer (LBO) vacancies in the Junior Management Grade Scale-I (JMGS-I) cadre. The recruitment has been announced through Advertisement No. HRDD/RECT/02/2026-27, dated August 07, 2026.
Eligible candidates holding a graduation degree in any discipline can apply online for IOB LBO Jobs 2026 from 08 August 2026 to 24 August 2026. Candidates can apply for vacancies in only one state among Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Maharashtra and Gujarat.
The selection process will consist of an Online Examination, Language Proficiency Test (where applicable), and Personal Interview. Selected candidates will initially be posted within the state for which they have applied for a period of 12 years or until promotion to SMGS-IV, whichever is earlier.

IOB LBO Vacancy 2026
IOB has announced 250 Local Bank Officer vacancies across four states. Candidates can apply for only one state and must possess proficiency in the mandatory local language of the state selected.

The vacancies are provisional and may vary depending upon the actual requirement of the Bank. State-wise and category-wise merit lists will be prepared separately.
Educational Qualification Details:
Candidates must possess a Graduation Degree in any discipline from a recognised university or an equivalent qualification recognised by the Central Government.
Candidates must have a valid mark sheet or degree certificate proving that they have completed graduation on the date of registration. The graduation percentage must also be entered correctly while submitting the online application.
Local Language Requirement
Candidates must fulfil the prescribed local language requirement for the state they are applying for.
Candidates who have studied the concerned state’s local language in Standard X or Standard XII will generally be exempt from appearing in the Language Proficiency Test.
Candidates who have not studied the concerned local language at the prescribed level will have to qualify the Language Proficiency Test (LPT) before the Personal Interview.
IOB LBO Salary 2026
Selected candidates will be appointed as Local Bank Officers in JMGS-I / Scale-I.

Apart from the basic salary, selected candidates will receive DA, HRA, CCA and other applicable allowancesaccording to the Bank’s rules.
Eligible candidates may also receive an advance increment for prior completed years of service as an Officer in a Scheduled Commercial Bank, subject to the conditions prescribed by IOB.

The selection process for IOB Local Bank Officer Recruitment 2026-27 consists of the following stages:

There will be a negative marking of 0.25 marks for every wrong answer. No marks will be deducted for questions that are not attempted.
There is no sectional cut-off. The minimum qualifying aggregate is 35% for unreserved candidates and 30% for reserved category candidates.
Language Proficiency Test
Candidates who have not studied the concerned state’s local language in Standard X or Standard XII will have to qualify the Language Proficiency Test before appearing in the Personal Interview.
Candidates failing the LPT will not be allowed to proceed further in the selection process.
Personal Interview
The Personal Interview carries 100 marks.
The minimum qualifying marks are:
- 50% for unreserved candidates
- 45% for reserved category candidates
Final Selection
The final selection will be based on the combined performance in the Online Examination and Personal Interview.
The weightage will be:
- Online Examination – 80%
- Personal Interview – 20%
The final merit list will be prepared state-wise and category-wise.
Probation and Bond:
Selected Local Bank Officers will be placed on probation for two years of active service from the date of joining.
Candidates are required to execute a Financial Service Indemnity Bond of ₹2,00,000 for rendering a minimum of three years of service, subject to the terms and conditions mentioned in the recruitment notification.
IOB LBO Jobs 2026 Important Posting Conditions
One of the important conditions of this recruitment is that selected candidates will be posted within the state for which they have applied.
Candidates will remain posted within the applied state for the first 12 years of service or until promotion to SMGS-IV, whichever is earlier.
Candidates should therefore carefully select their state before submitting the application because they are permitted to apply for only one state.
