The Bihar State University Service Commission (BSUSC), Patna has officially released the Bihar Assistant Professor Recruitment 2026 Notification for the appointment of Contractual Faculty (Assistant Professor) in various universities across the state. This recruitment drive offers 3,687 vacancies, including 3,674 regular subject-wise vacancies and 13 backlog posts, making it one of the biggest higher education recruitment drives in Bihar this year.

Educational Qualification Details:
Candidates must possess an excellent academic record with the following qualifications:
- Master’s Degree with at least 55% marks or equivalent grade from a recognized university.
- Bihar reserved category candidates are eligible for 5% relaxation in qualifying marks as per government rules.
- In addition to the Master’s Degree, candidates should fulfill any one of the following:
- UGC NET/CSIR NET qualified.
- Ph.D. awarded under UGC Regulations 2009 or 2016.
- Ph.D. registered before UGC Regulations 2009 while fulfilling prescribed conditions.
- Ph.D. from a globally recognized university ranked among the top 500 institutions.
- NET is not mandatory in disciplines where UGC does not conduct NET examinations.
Age Limit
As per the notification:
- Minimum Age: 21 Years
- Maximum Age: 43 Years (as on 1 August 2026)
Reserved category candidates will receive age relaxation according to Bihar Government rules.

Academic Assessment (88 Marks)

Interview-cum-Demonstration (12 Marks)
The interview stage includes:
- Teaching demonstration: 6 Marks
