SBI Clerk Jobs 2026 – Eligibility Criteria
Who Can Apply?
This particular SBI Clerk recruitment drive is open only to SC, ST and OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates against backlog vacancies.
General/Unreserved and EWS candidates are not eligible to apply under this advertisement.
Candidates must also satisfy the prescribed educational qualification, age limit, nationality and local-language requirements.
Educational Qualification
Candidates must have:
- A graduation degree in any discipline from a recognized university.
- An equivalent qualification recognized by the Central Government is also acceptable.
- Candidates in the final year/semester of graduation may apply provisionally, provided they can produce proof of passing the examination by 31 December 2026, if selected.
- Candidates holding an Integrated Dual Degree (IDD) must ensure that the date of passing the IDD is on or before 31 December 2026.
- Certain matriculate Ex-Servicemen possessing the prescribed Indian Army Special Certificate of Education or equivalent Navy/Air Force certificate may also be eligible, subject to the conditions mentioned in the notification.
Local Language Requirement
Candidates applying for a particular State/UT must be proficient in the specified local language.
Candidates who have studied the specified local language in Class 10 or Class 12 will generally be considered to have fulfilled the language requirement.
Candidates who have not studied the specified local language in Class 10 or Class 12 will have to qualify the Local Language Proficiency Test (LLPT) before joining.
Age Limit
The candidate’s age should be between 20 and 28 years as on 01 April 2026.
Candidates should have been born:
- Not earlier than 02 April 1998
- Not later than 01 April 2006

The starting basic pay includes two advance increments admissible to graduate candidates. In addition to basic pay, selected candidates will receive various allowances and benefits according to SBI rules and the place of posting.

Selection Process
The SBI Clerk selection process consists of the following stages:
- Preliminary Examination
- Main Examination
- Local Language Proficiency Test, wherever applicable
The marks obtained in the Preliminary Examination are used for shortlisting candidates for the Main Examination. Only Main Examination marks are considered for the final merit list, subject to fulfilment of all other eligibility requirements.
SBI Clerk Preliminary Exam Pattern 2026
The Preliminary Examination will carry 100 marks and will have a total duration of 1 hour.

The Main Examination will carry 200 marks and will have a total duration of 2 hours 40 minutes.

Candidates who fail to qualify the LLPT will not be offered appointment.
