The National Testing Agency (NTA) is expected to declare the NEET UG 2026 Re-Test Result by July 20, 2026, after completing the review of more than 10,000 objections submitted by candidates against the provisional answer key. With over 20 lakh medical aspirants waiting for the final outcome, the evaluation process has entered its final phase.

The NEET UG 2026 re-examination was conducted on June 21, 2026, following the cancellation of the earlier examination held on May 3. The re-test was organized across 5,440 examination centres in India and 14 overseas centres, making it one of the largest entrance examinations conducted in the country.

NTA Receives More Than 10,000 Answer Key Challenges

According to official sources, the NTA received over 10,000 objections after releasing the provisional answer key on June 25, 2026. Candidates were allowed to challenge any answer they believed to be incorrect until June 28, 2026 (11:50 PM).

Each objection required a non-refundable processing fee of Rs. 200 per question, which will be refunded only if the expert committee accepts the challenge.

Many candidates submitted objections for multiple questions, significantly increasing the workload for the examination authority.

Result Likely Before July 20

Officials have indicated that the agency remains confident about announcing the NEET UG 2026 re-test results by July 20, although the immediate focus is on carefully examining every objection submitted by students.

The expert panel is reviewing every challenge individually by examining:

  • Supporting documents submitted by candidates
  • Standard medical textbooks
  • Recommendations of subject experts
  • Official examination guidelines

Only after completing this review process will the final answer key be prepared, which will form the basis of the result.

Over 20 Lakh Candidates Appeared in Re-Test

The NEET UG 2026 re-examination witnessed participation from more than 20 lakh candidates, making it one of India’s biggest competitive entrance examinations.

The examination was conducted smoothly at:

  • 5,440 examination centres across India
  • 14 international examination centres

The re-test became necessary after the cancellation of the original examination due to concerns over its integrity.

The NTA has reportedly established a confidential evaluation team responsible for reviewing objections and finalizing results.

Officials stated that the evaluation process is being carried out under strict security arrangements, including:

  • Continuous CCTV surveillance
  • Centralized monitoring system
  • Restricted access evaluation centres
  • Confidential expert committees
  • Round-the-clock evaluation teams

The authorities have emphasized that maintaining transparency and accuracy remains the highest priority throughout the process.

How NTA Reviews Answer Key Challenges

The answer key objection process follows several stages before the final answer key is released.

The steps include:

  • Verification of every submitted objection.
  • Examination of supporting references and documents.
  • Review by subject experts.
  • Acceptance or rejection of each challenge.
  • Preparation of the final answer key.
  • Declaration of NEET UG 2026 re-test result.

Only the final answer key will be used for calculating candidates’ scores.

Meanwhile, the investigation into the alleged NEET UG 2026 paper leak is also progressing.

A Delhi court has extended the judicial custody of 10 accused persons until July 11, 2026, after allowing the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) additional time to continue its probe.

Additionally, three other accused remain in judicial custody until July 8, 2026.

The investigation is continuing separately from the examination and result process.
