
The State Bank of India (SBI) has released the official notification for the recruitment of Junior Associate (Customer Support & Sales) posts in the clerical cadre. Under Advertisement No. CRPD/CR/2026-27/17, SBI has announced 7,680 regular vacancies and 1,444 backlog vacancies, making a total of 9,124 posts across 24 States/UTs.
Eligible graduates between 20 and 28 years of age can apply online for the SBI Clerk Recruitment 2026. Candidates can apply for vacancies in one State/UT only and must possess proficiency in the specified local language of the State/UT selected. The selection process will consist of the Preliminary Examination, Main Examination and Local Language Proficiency Test, wherever applicable.
The online application process is scheduled from 11 August 2026 to 31 August 2026. The Preliminary Examination is tentatively scheduled for September 2026, while the Main Examination is expected to be conducted in November 2026.

In addition to the regular vacancies, 1,444 backlog vacancies are included under the recruitment. Candidates should carefully check the detailed notification for the applicable category-wise and State/UT-wise vacancy breakup.
For Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh, candidates should also check the operational areas specified by SBI before selecting their preferred State/UT.
Educational Qualification
Candidates must fulfil the prescribed educational qualification as follows:
- A candidate must possess a graduation degree in any discipline from a recognised University or an equivalent qualification recognised by the Central Government.
- Candidates possessing an Integrated Dual Degree (IDD) certificate must ensure that the date of passing the IDD is on or before 31 December 2026.
- Candidates who are in the final year/semester of their graduation may also apply provisionally.
- Such final-year candidates must produce proof of having passed the graduation examination on or before 31 December 2026 if required at the time of selection.
- Matriculate Ex-Servicemen who have obtained the Indian Army Special Certificate of Education, or corresponding certificates in the Navy/Air Force, after completing at least 15 years of service are also eligible, subject to the conditions specified in the notification.
One State/UT Only
A candidate can apply for vacancies in only one State/UT under this recruitment project. The candidate can appear for the online examination from any notified examination centre, but the Local Language Proficiency Test, where applicable, will be conducted at a centre decided by SBI in the State/UT applied for.
Candidates Not Eligible
The following candidates are not eligible:
- Candidates currently working in SBI’s Clerical Cadre.
- Candidates previously employed by SBI who resigned while working in the clerical cadre.
- Candidates against whom there is an adverse report regarding character, antecedents or moral turpitude.
- Candidates who do not satisfy the prescribed educational, age and local-language requirements.
SBI Clerk Recruitment 2026 Salary
The Junior Associate (Customer Support & Sales) post carries the following pay scale:
₹24,050 – 1,340/3 – ₹28,070 – 1,650/3 – ₹33,020 – 2,000/4 – ₹41,020 – 2,340/7 – ₹57,400 – 4,400/1 – ₹61,800 – 2,680/1 – ₹64,480
The starting Basic Pay is ₹26,730, which includes ₹24,050 plus two advance increments admissible to graduates.
The total starting emoluments of a Junior Associate posted in a metropolitan city such as Mumbai are expected to be around ₹46,000 per month, including Dearness Allowance, other applicable allowances and two additional increments for newly recruited graduate Junior Associates.
Selected candidates may also receive benefits such as provident fund, pension under the New Pension Scheme, medical benefits, leave-fare concession and other facilities as applicable under SBI rules.

There will be separate timings for each test. A 1/4th mark negative marking will apply for every wrong answer.
No minimum qualifying marks are prescribed for individual tests or the aggregate score. Candidates will be shortlisted for the Main Examination approximately in a ratio of 10 times the number of vacancies in each category, subject to availability.

A negative marking of 1/4th mark will apply for each wrong answer.
Only the marks obtained in the Main Examination will be considered for preparation of the final merit list. Preliminary Examination marks will not be added to the final merit score.
Phase-III: Local Language Proficiency Test
Candidates who have not studied the specified local language of the State/UT in Class 10 or Class 12 will have to appear for the Local Language Proficiency Test.
The test includes objective, subjective and verbal components. Candidates who fail to qualify the LLPT will not be offered appointment.
SBI trained apprentices meeting the conditions prescribed in the notification may receive a bonus of 5 marks out of 200in the Main Examination.
A wait list of up to 50% of vacancies, State-wise and category-wise, will also be maintained for one year from declaration of the final result, subject to the conditions prescribed by SBI.
