“I tell you and you forget. I show you and you remember. I involve you and you understand.”
Confucius (500 BC)

“The purpose of visualization is insight, not pictures”
Ben Shneiderman (1999)
“Above all else show the data.”
Edward Tufte (1983)
“Visualizations act as a campfire around which we gather to tell stories.”
Al Shalloway (2011)
“The art and practice of visualizing data is becoming ever more important in bridging the human-computer gap to mediate analytical insight in a meaningful way.”
Edd Dumbill (2012) in What is big data?
Confucius espoused the well-known principle “Do not do to others what you do not want done to yourself”, an early version of the Golden Rule.
This translates into a derivative which goes as “Do to all what you want done to yourself”
Having worked with vtiger for very long now, have gotten to know what it can do to the data it holds and what it cannot.
As a business owner, I myself have played with various tools for depicting data in charts and dashboards.
The seeds of chartDZiner and dashDZier on vtiger were sown more than 2 years ago which has translated now into concrete products. As intuitive and as customizable as vtiger itself, our chartDZiner and dashDZiner products allow user customization with his own CRM data to a great extent that he gets more value from the insights his own data provides.
This in essence is what I mean when I say “Do to all what you want done to yourself”.
I as a business owner want more value from my data which will feed my business strategies further. It is also high time that we grow from Excel as a data visualization tool.
A picture is worth a thousand words.. true… but a graph is worth a million words and more dollars for a business!!
