Bihar Assistant Professor Recruitment 2026 Notification Out: Apply Online for 3,687 Contractual Faculty Posts

The Bihar State University Service Commission (BSUSC), Patna has officially released the Bihar Assistant Professor Recruitment 2026 Notification for the appointment of Contractual Faculty (Assistant Professor) in various universities across the state. This recruitment drive offers 3,687 vacancies, including 3,674 regular subject-wise vacancies and 13 backlog posts, making it one of the biggest higher education recruitment drives in Bihar this year.

Interested and eligible candidates can submit their online applications through the HED Samarth Recruitment Portalfrom 3 July 2026 to 15 July 2026. Candidates possessing a Master’s Degree with the required percentage along with NET/Ph.D. qualifications as prescribed by the University Grants Commission (UGC) are eligible to apply.

Bihar Assistant Professor Vacancy 2026

BSUSC has announced 3,674 regular vacancies across six major subjects. In addition, 13 backlog vacancies have also been included, taking the total recruitment to 3,687 posts.

Educational Qualification Details:

Candidates must possess an excellent academic record with the following qualifications:

• Master’s Degree with at least 55% marks or equivalent grade from a recognized university.
• Bihar reserved category candidates are eligible for 5% relaxation in qualifying marks as per government rules.
• In addition to the Master’s Degree, candidates should fulfill any one of the following:
  • UGC NET/CSIR NET qualified.
  • Ph.D. awarded under UGC Regulations 2009 or 2016.
  • Ph.D. registered before UGC Regulations 2009 while fulfilling prescribed conditions.
  • Ph.D. from a globally recognized university ranked among the top 500 institutions.
• NET is not mandatory in disciplines where UGC does not conduct NET examinations.

Age Limit

As per the notification:

• Minimum Age: 21 Years
• Maximum Age: 43 Years (as on 1 August 2026)

Reserved category candidates will receive age relaxation according to Bihar Government rules.

Selection Process

The selection process carries a total of 100 marks.

Academic Assessment (88 Marks)

Marks are awarded based on:

• Master’s Degree performance
• Graduation marks
• Intermediate marks
• Matriculation marks
• NET qualification
• JRF qualification
• Ph.D.

Interview-cum-Demonstration (12 Marks)

The interview stage includes:

• Teaching demonstration: 6 Marks
• Personal interview: 6 Marks

Candidates are shortlisted in a 1:3 ratio for interviews based on their academic score.
